Airlines across the Southeast Asia region are seeking to replace aging aircraft with newer models that have better fuel efficiency, and as much as 80% of the demand will likely be met by Boeing 737 MAX. According to Boeing’s latest Commercial Market Outlook, by 2044 the entire Southeast Asia region will need 3,995 single-aisle jets to keep up with the growing passenger numbers. Indonesia’s 480-strong civil aviation fleet has an average age of nearly 15 years, making it the oldest fleet in the region, and one ripe for an overhaul in the coming few years.
“Following the recent authorization from civil aviation authorities, our local facilities are equipped to deliver high-quality 737 MAX component repair and maintenance services. Backed by a global aviation group with long-term strategic goals in the region, we combine advanced MRO technologies with the expertise of leading specialists. With airlines looking to overhaul their fleets, we are ready to become their independent MRO partner of choice,” said Martynas Grigas, CEO of FL Technics Indonesia.
FL Technics Indonesia is a part of FL Technics Group, a global MRO provider with over 3,000 employees worldwide serving clients across a wide network of base and line maintenance stations. The Group, in turn, is part of Avia Solutions Group, the largest provider of ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services in the world.
Last year, FL Technics Indonesia opened a new facility in Bali, which has since achieved CASA, FAA, and DGCA aviation safety certifications, and plans to qualify for EASA certification in the near future. The company is also considering expanding its 27,500 m2 hangar in Jakarta by an additional 88,000 m2.
In addition to the 737 MAX, FL Technics Indonesia provides comprehensive MRO services for a wide range of aircraft types, including Boeing Classic, Next Generation (NG), and MAX series, as well as Airbus A320ceo and A320neo families. The company is also certified to service engines such as the CFM56-3/5/7, V2500-A, LEAP-1A and 1B, and PW1100G.
