- FICCI organized Interactive Session with Defence Attaches on Catalyzing Bharat’s Prowess in Defence Manufacturing & Exports
NEW DELHI, 22 August 2025: Amit Satija, Joint Secretary (Defence Industries Production), Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, yesterday while addressing the FICCI session on ‘Catalyzing Bharat’s Prowess in Defence Manufacturing & Exports: Make in India-Make for the World’, lauded the participation of Defence Attachés from over 25 nations, underscoring the global confidence in India’s technological capabilities.
Satija highlighted the exponential rise of Indian defence exports, which have reached USD 2.8 billion, driven by policy reforms, enhanced private sector involvement, and the growing participation of MSMEs and start-ups. He urged the Defence Attachés to serve as key enablers in building bridges of cooperation between India and their respective countries, identifying areas of mutual interest for joint innovation and collaboration.
Ashish Kansal, Co-Chair, FICCI Defence & Homeland Security Committee, presented the industry perspective, emphasizing India’s emergence as a trusted and cost-effective defence manufacturing hub. He noted that more than 100 Indian companies are currently exporting arms and equipment to over 85 countries, with exports having grown 20-fold over the past decade.
Unni Raj P.S., Joint Director, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, outlined India’s growing defence industry capabilities. This was followed by a series of industry presentations from the organizations such as SMPP Ltd, Zen Technologies, Munitions India Ltd, MKU Ltd, Anjani Technoplast Ltd, Data Patterns India Ltd, Galaxeye, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, India Optel Ltd, JSW Gecko Motors Pvt Ltd, JV Micronics, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, MRF Ltd, Nautical Wings, Optimized Electrotech & Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, where they showcased their latest technologies and products.
FICCI reaffirmed its commitment to working in close partnership with the Ministry of Defence, armed forces, DRDO, industry, academia, and global stakeholders to advance India’s vision of becoming a trusted partner in the global defence ecosystem. The session brought together Defence Attachés (DAs) from over 25 friendly foreign countries, along with DAs and representatives from Indian missions in 20 countries, and leading industry representatives. The dialogue focused on strengthening India’s role in the global defence supply chain and fostering international collaborations in co-design, co-development, and co-production.
