New Delhi , 18 December 2015. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved  construction and up-gradation of 1377 km of strategic roads along Indo-Nepal border in the States of Uttarakhand (173 km) Uttar Pradesh (640 km) and Bihar (564 km) after consultation with concerned State Governments.

Further, three roads of total length 202.65 km namely Pithoragarh-Tawaghat, Tawaghat-Ghatibagarh, and Ghatibagarh-Lipulekh are entrusted to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for development in the State of Uttarakhand nearer to Indo-Nepal border.

The land required for construction of the roads approved by MHA is to be acquired by the concerned State Government. In case of BRO, 278.384 Hectare of Government land and 3.470 Hectare of private land has been acquired through State Government for three roads entrusted to BRO in State of Uttarakhand.
