The sMRT V200 submarine escape beacon will be on show for the first time on the Wescom Defence stand N5-150 at DSEI 2025, taking place at ExCeL London, 9–12 September.
The sMRT V200 is purpose-built for submarine escape environments. Lightweight, compact, and rated to 300 m depth, once activated, it sends a distress alert and transmits the casualty’s location and GPS coordinates via AIS and VHF DSC, enabling rescue units to locate survivors within ±10 metres accuracy. It also emits a 121.5 MHz direction-finding tone and features a high-intensity strobe, improving coordination, reducing search time, and increasing survivability.
Designed not to interfere with existing escape procedures or equipment, the V200 integrates seamlessly with submarine escape suits and has been fully tested and validated for compatibility with SEIE (Submarine Escape Immersion Equipment).
“In a submarine escape scenario, preparation is paramount,” said David Griffiths VP Defence Sales, Wescom Defence. “The sMRT V200 removes uncertainty from the rescue and recovery phase, with instant alerting and precise positioning through multiple channels, without adding complexity to the escape process.”
Recognising that submarine escape scenarios are often complex, the V200 features an extended transmission time, with its battery providing a minimum of 48 hours emergency operation. The V200’s serviceable design and minimum of five-year operational life ensures long-term reliability and cost-effective upkeep.
The sMRT V200 highlights Wescom Group‘s advanced capabilities in survivor location and rapid alerting. Visitors to DSEI 2025 are invited to see the V200 first-hand and discuss its deployment potential.
