It gives me great pleasure to extend my warm greetings to Aviation & Defence Universe (ADU),
our esteemed Media Partner, on the occasion of Wings India 2026, scheduled to be held from 28–31 January
2026. This flagship event has emerged as a defining platform for showcasing India’s remarkable progress
and growing leadership in the global civil aviation ecosystem.
Over the past decade, India’s civil aviation sector has witnessed unprecedented domestic growth,
transforming air travel into a mass mode of transportation. With the rapid expansion of airport
infrastructure, fleet induction, and passenger traffic, India today stands among the world’s fastest-growing
aviation markets. We are committed to improve connectivity, affordability, and service quality for every
citizen.
Important in this transformation has been the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), which has
successfully connected remote, underserved, and unserved regions of the country to the national aviation
grid. By operationalising hundreds of new routes and reviving dormant airstrips, UDAN has brought the
benefits of aviation to Tier-2, Tier-3 cities and remote areas, fostering regional development, tourism, trade,
and employment generation. The success of this scheme has demonstrated how targeted policy
interventions can create inclusive and sustainable growth.
In addition, the organisation of regional aviation meets across various parts of the country has
further strengthened stakeholder engagement, policy responsiveness, and local ecosystem development.
These platforms have enabled meaningful dialogue between policymakers, industry, and regional
administrations, ensuring that India’s aviation growth remains balanced, regionally inclusive, and aligned
with grassroots aspirations.
Wings India itself has grown in stature and scale, evolving into a globally recognised civil aviation
event that attracts industry leaders, policymakers, innovators, and investors from around the world. Each
edition has expanded its reach, relevance, and impact, mirroring the rapid growth and rising ambitions of
India’s aviation sector. Wings India 2026 promises to be yet another milestone in this journey, fostering
collaboration, innovation, and investment across the aviation value chain.
