Hyderabad/Mumbai. 28 January 2026. A pall of gloom ascended over the state of Maharashtra as news of it’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar death  in a fatal crash came. It is informed that 5 more co-passengers also lost lives in thecrash. The tragic passing of  the longest standing Dy CM has left a profound void in India’s political and public life. His sudden demise in a plane crash is not only a personal tragedy for his family and supporters but also a deep national loss. Maharashtra and indeed the country, has lost one of its most influential, dynamic and decisive leaders of modern times.

Ajit Pawar’s political journey was defined by unwavering commitment to governance, administrative excellence, and grassroots empowerment. As the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, with six non-consecutive tenures, he played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s development trajectory across sectors such as irrigation, rural infrastructure, agriculture, finance, and industrial growth.
