The No. 2 Maharashtra Air Squadron NCC, Nagpur, successfully hosted the Vayu Sainik Inter Group Competition 2025 from 7th to 16th August at Saoner, Nagpur, under the aegis of NCC Directorate Maharashtra. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from cadets of Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, showcasing their skills, discipline, and competitive spirit.

The prestigious event brought together cadets from various districts of Maharashtra, undergoing a gruelling selection process and competing for a place in the upcoming PVSC (Pre Vayu Sainik Camps) and finally representing in All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC), the prestigious national-level event where cadets from across India vie for top honours.

The competition was conducted under the leadership and able guidance of Group Captain Khushal Vyas, Group Commander, NCC Group Nagpur. Wing Commander V. Deepika Rao, Commanding Officer, No. 2 Mah Air Sqn NCC, Nagpur and Group Captain Santosh Babu, Commanding Officer, No. 1 Mah Air Sqn NCC, Mumbai conducted various competitions over a period of 10 days and tested cadets through a diverse range of events designed to evaluate both technical and leadership skills.

The Best Pilot Competition assessed flying aptitude, quick decision-making, and knowledge of aviation. Rifle Shooting, comprising .22 rifle and skeet shooting, highlighted accuracy, control, and composure under pressure. The Written Examinations evaluated theoretical knowledge of aeronautics, NCC subjects, and general awareness.

A major attraction was the Aeromodelling segment, which included three formats. In Radio Control Aeromodelling (RC), cadets demonstrated their ability to control miniature aircraft with precision, while Control Line Aeromodelling tested tethered flying skills. Static Aeromodelling displayed technical creativity and craftsmanship in aircraft model design.

Other important events included Tent Pitching, which measured teamwork and field skills, and Health and Hygiene, where cadets displayed their understanding of first aid, sanitation, and personal well-being. The Drill Competition was a test of discipline, synchronization, and parade standards, considered one of the cornerstones of NCC training.

The cadets of No. 2 Mah Air Sqn NCC, Nagpur, achieved an exceptional record, securing gold medals in almost every event. Their outstanding all-round performance led the Nagpur Group to claim the Championship Trophy, finishing first at the IGC Air 2025. Pune Group secured second position while Mumbai finished third. The remarkable success of Nagpur Group reflects the high standards of training, teamwork, and discipline maintained by the cadets and staff of the unit.

The successful organisation of the IGC was further supported by the Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQMC), Nagpur, along with local civil agencies, whose assistance was instrumental in smooth conduct of the competition.

With this achievement, the cadets of Maharashtra Directorate are now set to compete at the forthcoming All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC), representing the state at the national stage against the best from across the country.
