New Delhi, 30 September 2025 – In compliance with the orders of the Central Government, Praveen Kumar, IPS (WB:1993), has assumed the charge of Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) with effect from 30th September 2025 (AN).
He took over the charge from Rahul Rasgotra, IPS, who retired on superannuation on 30th September 2025 after an illustrious tenure. The baton was formally handed over in a brief ceremony held at ITBP Headquarters.
Before joining the elite Force, Praveen Kumar was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. Over a distinguished career spanning 32 years, he has held various important assignments both in his Cadre West Bengal and Intelligence Bureau.
For his exemplary services, he has been decorated with the Indian Police Medal (IPM), President’s Police Medal (PPM), Police (Special Duty) Medal, Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak, and the Asaadharan Aasuchana Kushalata Padak.
