• HENSOLDT uses BIRD Aerosystems’ RCD (Radar Control and Display) and MSIS (Mission Management System) to control their PrecISR™ advanced multi-mode radar family

Seoul. 15 October 2019. BIRD Aerosystems, the leading developer of Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), who specializes in the development and production of innovative and advanced DIRCM solutions for aerial platforms, will present its RCD (Radar Control and Display) and MSIS (Mission Management System) solutions at Seoul ADEX  2019.

As part of its cooperation with the world-leading pioneer of technology, HENSOLDT, BIRD Aerosystems developed the control interface of HENSOLDT’s PrecISR™ Multi-Mode Radar Family, using BIRD’s RCD and MSIS. At Seoul ADEX, BIRD Aerosystems will demonstrate the integration of its RCD and MSIS with HENSOLDT PrecISR™1000 radar.

BIRD’s RCD and MSIS provides the operator interface to control and manage HENSOLDT PrecISR radars: The data from the PrecISR™ radar is collected and processed by BIRD’s MSIS, which automatically classifies, prioritizes and clearly displays the information gathered from the radar along with additional information from the other onboard sensors. This enables Airborne ISR operators to accomplish large surveillance area coverage and a complete surveillance mission in one flight attitude, resulting in an unrivaled level of situational awareness and flight cost savings at the same time.

Ronen Factor, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Founder at BIRD Aerosystems, “Designed by the most experienced mission operators, BIRD’s RCD and MSIS reduces the operator workload and enhance the operational experience of our customers. BIRD Aerosystems provides turn-key solutions that are specifically tailored for the needs of each customer, and we are honored that HENSOLDT has selected BIRD to develop the control interface for its PrecISR™ Multi-Mode Radar Family.”

BIRD’s RCD (radar control device) is integrated into BIRD’s advanced Mission Management System (MSIS) which manages the complete mission and enables ASIO Airborne, Naval and Ground units to share real-time information. Using state of the art algorithms and an easy to use, intuitive, human-machine interface, BIRD’s RCD and MSIS reduces mission crew workload, enabling the crew to efficiently perform detection and classification of only the relevant targets.

The innovative RCD and MSIS are part of BIRD’s portfolio of patented cutting-edge solutions. This portfolio also includes the MACS Sensor and SPREOS DIRCM:

MACS (Missile Approach Confirmation Sensor) sensor performs unique confirmation of suspected incoming missile threats detected by the main electro-optical passive sensors, and ensures zero false alarms – hence only real missiles will be declared by the system and reacted upon.

SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System) DIRCM combines a radar-based confirmation sensor and an active laser jammer to ensure optimal protection against different MANPADS threat types. SPREOS uniquely performs multiple functions, including threat confirmation, tracking and jamming of advanced IR guided missiles.
