Moscow. 16 August 2022. Russia and Laos will hold Laros 2022 joint tank units exercise, to be held in Laos. This was announced by Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu opening talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Colonel General Chansamone Chanyalath.

“We note the successful work of the current mechanism of Russian-Lao military cooperation. Our defence department have a busy programme of activities this year, including the forthcoming Laros 2022 Russian- Laotian tank units exercise, which will take place at your training grounds. We are certainly preparing for it and will participate in it,” General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said.

He also noted that Russia cherishes its friendship with Laos, a long-standing and reliable partner of Russia in Southeast Asia, which shares the Russian Federation’s views on many international issues.

“I propose to exchange views on topical issues of bilateral interaction,” Sergei Shoigu said, thanking his Lao counterpart for his participation in ARMY 2022 International Military and Technical Forum, International Army Games and the Moscow Conference on International Security.

In turn, Lao Defence Minister noted that his country’s delegation appreciates every meeting with the Russian Head of the Military Department and the leadership of the Russian Defence Ministry. Almost 400,000 spectators have visited International Army Games 2022 since its opening

More than 395,000 spectators have visited the venues of International Army Games 2022 since its opening. More than 190,000 of them in the past 24 hours. This was announced today at the daily briefing for journalists at the Joint Press Centre of ARMY 2022 International Military and Technical Forum and International Army Games 2022 by Colonel General Alexander Lentsov, Chief Referee of the Games.

Opening ceremonies were held yesterday at 12 competitions, drawing of lots were held at 4 competitions and first stages were held at 13 competitions.

The Republic of Kazakhstan has launched Masters of Artillery Fire competition. At the end of the first stage of the Individual race, team of Kazakhstan is in the lead, with Russia in second place and Belarus in third.

Military Rally competition, which is being held for the first time in two states, Russia and Mongolia, also had its first stage. In Individual race the best result was shown by Russian drivers, the second was shown by servicemen from Belarus and the third by representatives of Uzbekistan.

Polar Star competition began yesterday in the Republic of Belarus. The top performer in the four exercises of the competition is Belarus, with Russia in second place and Uzbekistan in third.

Also the first stage Instrumental Genre (Duo) is completed at Army of Culture competition. Vietnamese Armed Forces creative team won the best award, followed by military musicians from Russia and Uzbekistan.

Participants in Tactical Shooter competition in Kazakhstan completed the third exercise – Defence of the first Single Shooter stage. Kazakhstani team leads in three exercises, followed by China and Uzbekistan. The shooters from Russia were in fourth place by a slight margin.

Military Medical Relay Race was launched in St Petersburg. After the first exercise Shooting with standard weapons, the places were distributed as follows: Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan.

According to preliminary results, the Russian Federation is now in the lead in the overall standings, followed by the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Today’s Games will include opening ceremonies at four competitions, drawing of lots will be held at four competitions and 22 competitions will be continued.

Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Ministry of Defence talks about past and upcoming events at ARMY 2022 IMTF.

At a briefing for journalists today, Major General Alexander Osadchuk, Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Ministry of Defence, summarised the results of the first day of ARMY 2022 International Military and Technical Forum (IMTF).

The first day of the forum was attended by more than 75,500 representatives of the defence industry, scientists, developers and testers of the latest weapon models, representatives of the state customer and military experts.

The composition of the participants and guests testifies to the growing interest in the exhibition, both at the Russian and international level,” he said, speaking to the Russian and foreign media.

A unique feature of the year 2022 was the simultaneous hosting of several major international events: the International Army Games, the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security , the First International Anti-Fascist Congress, and the 3rd International Fire and Rescue Congress organised by the Russian EMERCOM.

The opening ceremony of the ARMY 2022 Forum was attended by representatives of defence delegations from 80 foreign countries, including: 19 states at minister of defence level, 12 at chief of general staff level, 25 at deputy defence minister level, 11 at expert level and 38 at foreign embassy level.

Major General Alexander Osadchuk noted that official confirmations of the participation of foreign delegations in the forum’s events continue to be received. While 72 states had confirmed their participation on the eve of the Forum, the number had risen to 87 as of August 15.

On the first day of the Forum, bilateral meetings were organised and held between the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, and representatives of the military departments of Brunei, Bangladesh and Venezuela.

In addition, bilateral meetings were held with delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Burundi, Iran and Uganda through the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation.

The Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Russian Ministry of Defence also told journalists that 32 companies and organizations from six countries – Belarus, India, Iran, Thailand, Turkey and China – have presented military and dual-use products at ARMY 2022 Forum this year.

Guests and participants of the Forum took part in a plenary session chaired by Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, toured the Forum exposition and took part in the opening ceremony of the Forum and International Army Games 2022.

A dynamic demonstration of weapons and military equipment was organised for foreign delegations, and participants in ARMY 2022 IMTF also attended the second heat of the first subgroup of Tank Biathlon competiton.

Special interest was shown by foreign specialists in the expositions of Roscosmos State Corporation, Kalashnikov Concern, Russian Helicopters JSC, Sozvezdiye Concern JSC, Almaz-Antey Concern, United Aircraft Corporation, Rosoboronexport JSC and the national expositions of Belarus, China and Iran.

Major General Alexander Osadchuk recalled that this year the scientific-business programme of the Forum includes 340 scientific-business events. Artificial intelligence technology and the diversification of the defence industry are dominant themes this year.

“Nine events were held on the first day of the Forum, attended by 1,242 participants, including heads of the central military administration of the Russian Ministry of Defence, deputies of the Russian State Duma and Federal Assembly, CEOs of Russian defence industry enterprises, representatives of the business community and the financial sector,” Osadchuk said.

He also said that according to the official audit of the Forum, 1,497 enterprises and organisations are participating in the static exhibition, which presents more than 28,000 samples of military and dual-purpose products.

According to him, the centre of attraction for specialists and experts was the specialised exposition of advanced weaponry, military and specialised equipment, featuring remote-controlled combat modules and examples of armoured vehicles. Among the samples presented are 57mm Epokha and Kinzhal combat modules, 30mm Boomerang-BM and Typhoon-VDV-BM combat modules, BMP (IFV) B-19 with Epokha combat module, BMP B-11 Kurganets-25, BMP-3 with Kynzhal combat module and others.

Also of special interest to the Forum’s participants is the exposition of artificial intelligence, radioelectronic and information technologies; exposition of the best developments of ERA Military Technopolis, scientific companies, research and educational organisations of the Ministry of Defence, as well as promising developments of military and special equipment and samples of high-tech dual-use products.

In his speech, Major General Aleksander Osadchuk briefed journalists on the forum’s activities planned for today. Among the main events of the second day of the Forum was the opening of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security with the participation of heads of military departments, representatives of the expert community from different states, as well as representatives of international organisations.

The Diversification of the DIC congress will begin with a plenary session chaired by Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and with the participation of Alexey Krivoruchko, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation.

A demonstration of the firing and running capabilities of weapons, military and special equipment will be held at Alabino training ground for foreign and Russian experts. The format of the event involves a series of presentations demonstrating the firing capabilities of the Land Forces and Airborne Troops’ latest equipment.

The dynamic demonstration programme at Kubinka airfield will feature the Russian Vityazi, Strizhi and Berkut aerobatic teams, long-range aircraft, as well as a solo aerobatic demonstration of Yak-130 aircraft.

The dynamic programme will include a demonstration of the capabilities of 38 types of armaments and military and special purpose equipment available to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

Guests will also have the opportunity to visit facilities of the Patriot Park: the educational-training complexes of the Armed Forces, the objects of multifunctional fire centre, centre for military and tactical games and more.
