New Delhi. 05 August 2018. A total of 45 personnel from Indian Army Contingent have moved for Joint Military Exercise with Royal Thai Army commencing on 06 August 2018. The Indian Army contingent and Royal Thai Army contingent will undertake joint training in Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism in Urban & Rural environment under United Nation’s Mandate.
The exercise is slated to take place in Chachoengsao Province in Thailand. The training and readiness of the Indian contingent was reviewed by the General Officer Commanding before induction. The Maitree series of bilateral exercises has been one of the major defence cooperation initiatives between India and Thailand. It is an annual event and the previous editions were held at Chamba in Himachal Pradesh in 2017 and Krabi in Thailand in 2016.
