Hensoldt won the tender for IRV 900 A2. The Bundeswehr order comprises 368 systems with an option for a further 34 attachments. The thermal imaging devices are procured for dismounted use at medium ranges. This is a modified version of the IRV 900 A1 infrared attachment.

The IRV 900 A2 can be used either as a clip-on system with 1x magnification or as a stand-alone target lens with digital zoom. A colour monitor allows for easier target reconnaissance with false colour display. The uncooled infrared attachment is noiseless and ready for use within 5 seconds.

In addition, the IRV 900 A2 is distinguished by the fact that it can be used on assault rifles, light and medium machine guns, multi-purpose machine guns and designated marksmen rifles. Furthermore, it is possible and intended to be used with the fire control sight on the shoulder-launched multi-purpose weapon RGW 90 LRMP.
