WILSONVILLE, OR – July 11, 2016 – FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) today announced the release of the new Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc high-definition multispectral compact targeting system, designed specifically for use on light rotor wing aircraft. The Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc provides an unmatched combination of size, weight, and power in a sensor package tailored to give light attack helicopters the uncompromising ISR&T performance required to locate, identify and engage targets at maximum range.

With high-definition, multispectral imaging and precision laser designation integrated into a single compact system, the Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc eliminates the need to choose between a system’s size, weight and targeting performance. Its compact design, ideal for smaller aircraft with limited ground clearance, provides a superior solution for locating, identifying and laser designating targets at maximum range.

Leveraging FLIR-designed and produced thermal and laser technologies, the Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc delivers longer range Positive ID (PID) and more powerful laser designation than previously available in a product this size. As more end users look to expand the mission portfolio of their rotary platforms, the Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc is a truly invaluable surveillance and intelligence-gathering force-multiplier.

Incorporating a long-range designator for precision engagements and advanced laser spot-tracking, the Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc enhances a rotary platform’s existing ISR capabilities, without increasing the installation footprint or weight.

“The Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc delivers extraordinary performance for all of our customers asking more of their existing and future rotary platforms,” said Kevin Tucker, Vice President and General Manager of FLIR Surveillance. “Its next-generation capabilities enable operators to cover more ground and increase standoff range, while still giving them the tools to capture actionable intelligence and rapidly respond to evolving threats. Our unique Commercially Developed, Military Qualified (CDMQ ® ) design process allows us to bring these new capabilities to the warfighters quickly and cost effectively.”

The Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc is the latest innovation driven by FLIR’s CDMQ ® model and is the fourth-generation ISR&T solution. It leverages FLIR’s 20 years of experience designing, producing, integrating, and supporting military standard (MIL-STD) qualified, combat-proven systems. With over 1,600 high-definition systems fielded in combat theaters around the world, FLIR has the invaluable operational experience and global support network to deliver the solutions today’s operators demand.

The Star SAFIRE 380-HLDc debuts at the 2016 Farnborough Air Show in England this week.
