Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 10 February 2026. At MKU Limited, we are pleased to announce the formation of Tuwaiq Armour Industrial Corporation, a strategic joint venture with Sondos Advanced Industry. The JV was inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Seth, Raksha Rajya Mantri, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, at the ongoing defence exhibition World Defense Expo in Riyadh. This joint venture represents a significant milestone in our long-standing engagement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reinforces our commitment to the Kingdom’s local defence manufacturing and long-term capability development.
Through Tuwaiq Armour, we intend to localise the manufacturing of advanced soldier protection solutions in Saudi Arabia, including ballistic helmets, body armour, and hard armour plates. The joint venture is closely aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing, retain critical technologies within the Kingdom, and build a resilient national defence industrial base.
“The formation of Tuwaiq Armour reflects our long-term intent in Saudi Arabia,” said Mr. Karan Gupta, VP-International Sales, MKU Ltd. “We are moving beyond a supply-led engagement towards becoming an embedded manufacturing and capability partner. Together with Sondos, we aim to build sustainable industrial capacity that supports the operational needs of Saudi defence and security forces over the long term.”
Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Tarfa Abdulrhman Al-Motari, CEO & President of Sondos Advanced Industry, said, “We are excited to deepen our collaboration with Indian defence companies, and Tuwaiq Armour represents one of our important new ventures in this direction. Partnerships such as this strengthen Saudi Arabia’s industrial capabilities while bringing world-class technology and expertise into the Kingdom. This aligns closely with Vision 2030’s goals of localisation, knowledge transfer, and building a self-reliant defence industrial ecosystem, and we look forward to working even more closely with Indian partners in the future.”
Building Local Manufacturing and Indigenous Capability
Under the Tuwaiq Armour framework, we have established dedicated manufacturing capabilities within Saudi Arabia for soldier protection systems. These facilities combine MKU’s globally proven technologies, materials expertise, and manufacturing processes with Sondos’ established local industrial infrastructure and market insight.
Our focus is on structured technology transfer, workforce development, and the creation of indigenous know-how, ensuring that production, technical expertise, and lifecycle support are rooted within the Kingdom.
