New Delhi. 21 March 2024. The initiative of Indian Army to establish the Army Girls Sports Company in four sports disciplines – Archery, Athletics, Boxing, and Weightlifting for young girls of permissible age is a commendable step towards promoting sports among young girls and providing them with opportunities to excel in their chosen field. The selected girls will train and compete at National/ International level and with their medal winning efforts will bring laurels to the Nation and Indian Army but will also be eligible for recruitment as Direct entry Non Commissioned Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers apart form enrolment as Agniveers.
