Commodore  Ranjit B Rai MBIM (UK) is a specialist Navigator and Air Force trained Air Controller who attended Yarrow Shipyard, HMS Dryad and RN Staff College London. Commanded three ships and the Indian Naval Academy and served as Director Operations and Intelligence and was Defence Adviser in the Singapore for South East Asia. Attended Yarrow and MDL shipyards, and visited Chinese shipyards in 2012.

On prematurely leaving the Navy completed the Ship Management Course at IIM Ahmedabad, and served as the India representative for USA’s LASH project carrier Waterman Steam Ship Corporation of International Ship Holding USA till 2004 .He writes and speaks on Maritime Issues and broadcasts. He has beenthe Vice President of the Indian Maritime Foundation. He has authored five books. Latest being Warning Navies –India and Pakistan (2014).
