• Surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan on terrorists

New Delhi. 29 September 2016. In an impromptu called joint press conference by MEA and MOD DGMO Lt. Gen Ranbir Singh in formed that the Army has carried out surgical strikes yesterday to prevent Pakistani terrorists who had positioned themselves at launch pads along the Line of Control with aim to carry out strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and other metros.

He added that Pakistan is guilty of increasing infiltration by terrorists along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and that recently captured terrorists have confessed to their training and arming in Pakistan. Global positioning systems or GPS recovered from them established their firm Pakistani connect.

The press briefing was held after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called an urgent meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security including the Defence, Home and Foreign Ministers. No Air Force wing involved in this strike. Commando team returned back to Indian side without any casualties.

“I spoke to the Pak DGMO, shared our concerns and told him that we conducted surgical strikes last night” DGMO added. Finger prints and DNA samples who were killed in Uri and Poonch attacks can be made available to Pakistan if required in their investigations, he said.

Indian armed forces are fully prepared for any contingency that may arise, he reiterated.
