Markham, Ontario. May 10, 2017 – Canada’s leading defence and military magazine, CANADIAN DEFENCE REVIEW, has released its annual survey and ranking of defence companies in Canada.

IMP Aerospace & Defence, an important ISS provider for Canada’s military, has been ranked # 1 in CDR’s survey of Canada’s Top Defence Companies for 2017. This marks the thirteenth year for CDR’s survey of Canada’s Top Defence Companies.

In announcing this year’s rankings, CDR Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen, commented, “With the selection of IMP Aerospace & Defence as this year’s # 1 company, we are shining the spotlight on one of the country’s most quietly successful defence contractors. IMP has been an important maintainer of RCAF aircraft like Sea King, Aurora and Cormorant for many years. It has also been a very important contributor to the regional economy, employing many skilled and dedicated workers in the process.”

In commenting on his company’s selection, David Gossen, President, IMP Aerospace & Defence, said, “Our growth is attributable to the investments we make in our people, the development of innovative solutions to meet the operational and mission requirements for our customers both domestically and internationally. I am particularly proud that IMP Aerospace & Defence has been recognized by CDR as the #1 Defence Company for 2017 and I would like to thank the entire team at IMP who have contributed to this achievement.”

CDR’s Kitchen added, “This is the first time for IMP at the # 1 position but with projects like Cormorant mid-life upgrade on the horizon, we expect to see much more from this well-managed company in the years ahead.”

An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent advisors ranked the companies based on factors such as economic impact, innovation, contribution to the nation’s security, corporate integrity and support for Canada’s military.

This year’s ranking was expanded by 50% as it now surveys 75 companies, proving Canada’s defence industry continues to thrive.
With its Top 75 Defence Companies Ranking, CDR’s goal is to showcase Canada’s defence industry and all that it has to offer.
