New Delhi. 01 Apr 2016. General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen KJ Singh, inaugurated the Selection Centre North (SCN) at Kapurthala. SCN, Kapurthala is the fourth Selection Centre to be raised for selection of Officers for the Armed Forces. It consists of two Services Selection Boards (31SSB and 32 SSB).

The raising of the Selection Centre commenced in Jul 15. Lt Gen KJ Singh said that the operationalisation of Selection Centre would ensure taking on an additional load of 25 batches initially and would eventually play an important role in reducing the deficiency in the officer cadre in the Armed forces.

The first batches coming to the Selection Centre shall be from the ‘In-Service Entry’ candidates and of Combined Defence Services (CDS/UPSC Entry). The inauguration ceremony was attended by various civil and military dignitaries.
